Longform Reads is accepting submissions, including personal essays. We believe that true stories are the most compelling.

Inspired by the legacy of LEKH Magazine, we publish thought-provoking essays, reflections, and stories about daily life, ideas, and history.

We’re not looking for fast content. However, we’re looking for true, human stories.

What Are We Looking For?

Longform Reads is a home for personal essays and reflective writing based on firsthand experience.

You could write about:

  • Daily Life Experiences
  • Inspirational moments
  • Office life and workplace culture
  • Family traditions and celebrations
  • Personal opinions and reflections
  • Book reviews
  • Your latest reading experiences
  • Historical stories or perspectives

We value writing that is thoughtful, personal, and meaningful.

Submission Guidelines

Word Count
1,500–4,000 words is ideal.

Voice: We prefer writing that feels authentic and personal.

Original Work: Submissions must be original and written by you.

Sources: If you include facts or history, please add links or references.

Format: Send your article in the email itself. You don’t have to attach a file. But make sure you attach images if you are writing about personal essays—the real photos of your memories.

What kindly of writing does Longform Reads accept?

We are accepting personal essays, non-fiction literary pieces, cultural, historical and philosophical essays. Also, author, writer and historian profiles. You can also submit book-inspired deep dives, thoughtful reflections and narrative journalism.

Do you accept previously published articles?

No. We prefer original, unpublished work written specifically for Longform Reads.

Can I submit AI-generated or AI-assisted

We accept human-written work only.
AI may be used only as a minar assistive tool for grammar checks, outline, idea exploration.

What is the ideal word count?

Most accepted pieces falls between 1200-3000 words. However, exceptional work outside this range may still be considered.

Can I submit images or photograph with my article?

Yes— and encourage it. Remember, you must own the rights to the images. Use images that are royalty free/creative commons with proper attribution.

How do I submit my work?

A Google docs link view or comment access. Or sending your article via email. Please include short author bio, social media links (adds authority).

Can I publish my article elsewhere after it appears on Longform Reads?

Yes— with one important condition.
We ask for short exclusivity window. Please do not republish the full article elsewhere for 14 days after publication on LongformReads. After you may republish your work as long as you clearly credit us.
Acceptable credit example:
“Originally published on LongformReads.com”

Can I post my article on Medium, Substack, or my own blog later?

Yes— after exclusive window.
When republishing:
1. Add a clear credit line at the top or bottom.
2. Include a link back to the original article on longformreadscom.com

This helps readers discover the original publication and support our writers community.

Will my article be edited ?

Possibly—but respectfully. Edit for clarity, grammar, or style and formatting for readability.
